Crisp tops Northside; Veterans rolls past Warner Robins

There is still no break in the losing skid that has hampered Northside’s 2018 baseball season. Tuesday it was Crisp County defeating the Eagles 11-5 at Northside – the sixth-straight loss.

Two runs in the first and five in the second helped the Cougars to some early breathing room.

The Eagles did score one in the first and got one more back in the third, but Crisp added three more in the top of the fourth. Northside’s final three came in the fifth whereas Crisp added a run in the seventh. It out-hit the Eagles 13-4.

Dylan Franks had two of those – one a double – in four at bats. He also walked once and drove in a pair, and thanks to Hunter Price, scored once.

Price was 1-4 with two RBIs.

Elsewhere, Veterans did a number on Warner Robins. The Warhawks won 16-1 in five innings. They opened with two in the first, then basically broke it open with seven in the second.

Two more in the third made it 11-0. The Demons got one back in the bottom of that inning, but Veterans put it away in the fifth with five runs. It out-hit its host 12-4.

Derek Wylie had two hits in four at bats. He drove in three and scored once. Tyler Mayfield only had one hit (1-1), but then again, he also walked three times and drove in two with that one hit, while scoring three times. Ben Gibbs was also 2-2 with an RBI and run driven in and Clifford Pless was 1-2 with three runs scored.

Blake Etheridge led the Demons’ effort. He was 2-3 with an RBI.

Veterans improved to 5-2, while Warner Robins is having the same struggles as Northside. It fell to 0-5.
