“It is awesome,” said Lady Panthers Head Coach Terri Hunt, who in coaching volleyball at Perry for seven years, has had a team in the state playoffs for five – hosting three times. “I am very proud of the group of young ladies. I have only one senior – my daughter who has been playing for Perry High School since eighth grade – eight juniors (and) one freshman, so we are still a relatively young team.”

Perry entered the day at host West Laurens with a bye via coming in at the time as the No. 1 seed. The girls first played Spalding and beat it 25-12, 25-23.

At state, Perry will host Eastside, the No. 3 seed out of Area 4. That game is listed for Thursday.

“I think we have a good matchup in round one,” Hunt said, “but we must execute on the court and minimize mistakes.

“We have to stay focused and not let the week out of school be a distraction for us.”
