Houston County sweeps Northside; other results

Northside and Houston County met on the soccer field Wednesday – at the home of the latter – and let’s just say it was not a good day for the Lady Eagles. They lost to their Region 1-AAAAAA opponent and crosstown rivals 10-0.

The Lady Bears stayed unbeaten and on top in the division as a result. They are 3-0 in region play, 9-1-1 overall. Northside fell to 0-4, 3-5-2, which currently has the girls in last.

The boys’ side was considerably closer – understatement – with Houston County winning 3-2 in overtime.

The win also kept Houston County’s boys unbeaten and in first in region play. They are 3-0, 7-7 overall. Unfortunately for Northside, three of its four losses have come against division opponents, and that’s left it currently in last at 1-3, 9-4 overall.

Elsewhere, Warner Robins was at Harris County where it split its results. The Demonettes won 6-1 while the Demons fell 3-1.

With the win, Warner Robins’ girls improved to 5-1 in Region 1-AAAAA, 10-1 overall. Harris County’s girls fell to 3-4, 7-6.

Warner Robins’ boys in turn dropped to 1-5, 3-6-2 while the Tigers improved to 5-2, 8-4-1.

Veterans was at Tift County where the Lady Warhawks and Lady Blue Devils played to a 4-all tie and the Warhawks fell 2-0.

Veterans’ girls now stand at 7-2-2 overall (still 4-0 in the region) while Veterans’ boys dropped to an even .500 at 5-5.

Finally, Perry was at Upson-Lee for a 2-AAAA matchup. The girls, with three goals in the first half and one in the second, won 4-0. They improved to 2-3 – currently fourth in the standings – 3-9-1 overall. Upson-Lee fell to 0-3, 0-6-1.

For the boys it was not-so-good news. They lost 3-1.

That was actually their first loss in the division. They are 4-1 (5-5 overall) and in second behind Upson-Lee, which improved to 5-0 (10-0-1).
