Lady Bears hammer Northside; Howard rallies past Perry, Veterans gets no-hit

Jamie Benda and Madi Campbell each went 3-3 and Lauren Ross 2-4 to help lead Houston County to a 16-1 win over Northside Thursday at Houston County.

Campbell drove in two and scored three times. Benda earned an RBI and came around three times, while Ross, with a double and a triple as part of her hits, knocked in four.

Also, Makayla Krepps drove in a trio while going 1-1 with two walks. She also scored twice.

The game lasted only three innings, with the Lady Bears scoring five in the first and 11 in the second.

The Lady Eagles’ lone run – they were out-hit 11-3 – came in the third. Celena Luna (1-1 with a walk) earned an RBI for it.

 

Elsewhere, Howard rallied to beat Perry 5-2. The Panthers scored two in the first. The Lady Huskies cut it to 2-1 with a run in the second. Three scoreless innings for both ensued over the next three innings.

Howard tied it in the sixth and won it with a trey in the seventh.

Perry did net the most hits – 5-4. Terra Odom had three of those in four trips to the plate. AliRae Dykes, 2-3, had the others. Abby Ussery, 0-3, had the only RBI.

Raegan Hughes took the loss. She struck out four and walked five.

 

Against Bainbridge, in a game played at Andrew College, Veterans went up against an ace – understatement – in Lexie Delbrey. She tossed a no-hitter while striking out 15 Lady Warhawks and walking two.

The Lady Bearcats then scored the only runs. They came in the first and fifth.

Emily Myers did limit them to just six hits, but still took the loss. She struck out two and walked two.
