Peach County captures Fendley Relays

Peach County was the overall winner of the 32nd Annual Richard Fendley Relays held Thursday at McConnell-Talbert Stadium.

The Trojans finished the “boys only” meet with 94 points. Bleckley County was second with 57, followed
by Mary Persons with 62. Bleckley County was third with 57. Fitzgerald was fourth with 52.50 and West Laurens rounded out the top five with 52.

Houston County managed sixth with 50.50, Griffin was seventh with 49 and Perry eighth with 41. Warner Robins made it inside the top 10 with 38.50 and Jones County at 10, with 36. Veterans was 11th with 21, Harris County 12th with 17 and Northside 13th with 9.50. Southwest Macon was last with 5.

Peach County took the top two spots in the discus (throws of 156-05 and 144-05, respectively). The Eagles’ Braxton Golden did get third with a throw of 142-01.

The Trojans also took first and second in the 100-yard dash (10.94 and 11.07) while Warner Robins’ D’Angelo Whitehead was third with a time of 11.08.

Perry’s Tanner Reid did win the 3200-meter run. He finished it in 10:17.14. Veterans’ Nikalas Rowlands was second at 10:22.95 and Reid’s teammate Bryan Storie third at 10:26.67.

Mary Persons won the 110-meter hurdles. Warner Robins’ Devontae Glass was fourth.

Jones County won the 300-meter hurdles but Khalil Polk was second. Dre Butts for the Greyhounds crossed the line in 40:40 while Polk finished in 41.94. Butts also won the long jump and the triple jump.

Bleckley County had the top finisher in the high jump and the pole vault – first and second place in the latter, while Peach County’s Kearus Jackson won the shot with a distance of 47-11.00. D.J. Journey for the Bears was the top local finisher. He was fifth with a throw of 43-06.00.
