Perry’s JeCory Burks signs with Kennesaw State

Perry High’s Je’Cory Burks signed a football scholarship with Kennesaw State during Wednesday’s National Signing Day.

The 6-0, 165-pound defensive back helped lead the Panthers to a 5-5 record this past season. He joins an Owls team that finished 12-2 and fell in the FCS playoff quarterfinals.

Burks, the son of YaTosha and Cory Burks, was a four-time National Honor Society honoree and a member of the Beta Club.

His awards include being named to the Region 2-AAAA First Team in 2017, team captain, Most Outstanding Defensive Back, Georgia Football Magazine Academic All-State honoree, Georgia Football Magazine Good Citizen Award honoree, 2-AAAA Scholar Athlete of the Year honoree, six-time Defensive Player of the Week honoree and more.
