Twelfth out of 56 high schools. That’s where Veterans High’s girls and boys landed in the final AAAAA standings of the 2018-2019 Georgia Athletic Director’s Association Director’s Cup – a measure of how well the two (all schools) did in all sports (minus those – riflery, lacrosse – not played locally; but still scored).
The Warhawks-Lady Warhawks finished with 749 points. Ten more and they could have surpassed Chamblee in 11th. Eleven more and they would have cracked the top 10.
Starr’s Mill finished first. Its girls and boys finished with 1,286. Buford had 1,277, McIntosh 1,168, Carrollton 1,160, and in fifth Riverwood with 931.
Veterans’ top points came in girls golf. The Lady Warhawks earned 90 points in it. The wrestling squad earned 85, the girls basketball team 70 and the cheerleading squad 69. The cross country team finished with 60. Both soccer squads earned 53, as did the volleyball team.
The girls track team had 51, girls cross country team 40 and football, boys basketball, girls and boys tennis, baseball and softball teams 25 (each).
Harris County, within 1-AAAAA, finished 15th (733). Bainbridge was 27th (438), Thomas County Central 28th (431) and Warner Robins 30th. The Demons and Demonettes accumulated 396.
The most came in football – 90 points. They also earned 70 in boys basketball and girls soccer. The cheerleading squad had 45, girls track 28 and boys soccer, volleyball and girls basketball 25 (each). Finally, the boys cross country team had 18.
