“We have a talented and competitive group of teams and we are looking forward to an awesome tournament.”

So said Veterans High School girls basketball Head Coach Nicki Miranda of the Shane’s Rib Shack Holiday Classic the school will again play host to Dec. 20-23.

Sixteen teams – eight girls and eight boys squads – will make up the field.

They include, on the boys’ side: Cambridge, Clarke Central, Crisp County, Locust Grove, Rutland, Worth County, Perry and the host. And for the girls: Ware County, Cambridge, Perry, Cambridge, Marist, West Laurens, Swainsboro, Worth County and the Lady Warhawks.

Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third and an All-Tournament team will be named for both sexes. The concession stand will also be open throughout, Miranda said.

Veterans will also be raffling off a YETI Hopper 40 quart soft side cooler, a $400 value, Miranda said. Sponsored by Chuck’s Bait, Tackle, Gun, Pawn and Jewelry, the drawing will be held on the final day of play. “You do not have to be present to win,” she said.
