“It was a very good night for VHS.”
Well said, Lady Warhawks Head Coach Marlene Rogers, referring to the fact her squad beat Harris County and host Warner Robins in the second of three Area matches, which determine who wins the Area and goes to the state tournament.
The first game against the Lady Tigers was close “the entire time,” Rogers said, “with the lead exchanging throughout the match.” A missed clutch serve, Rogers said, eventually gave Harris County the 25-22 win.
The Lady Warhawks then started the second game by being down early, but had an “amazing” comeback late to win 27-25. “Strong serving” in the third sealed the win, 25-14.
Veterans then beat Warner Robins 25-15, 25-17. (No word on how the Demonettes did against Harris County.)
Against the Lady Tigers, Ashley Dostie “played amazing,” said Rogers, “(her) best match of the season” digging up 14 balls and providing two aces.
Alasha Heard also had 14 kills and four blocks and Lorelei Diamond, she said, “provided consistency” with eight kills and 10 digs.
Izzy Coddington chipped in 31 assists.
Versus Warner Robins, Heard led with seven kills and three blocks. Dostie pulled in two digs and had four aces and Coddington added 15 assists.
