Bears prep for another Playoff matchup against Pope; this time in the Final Four

The Houston County Bears are getting prepped for the Final Four in the GHSA AAAAAA Baseball Playoffs and their opponent is a familiar one, the Pope Greyhounds out of Northeast Marietta and it will be played in Cobb County. This will be the second consecutive season that these two teams have met in the playoffs and the fourth time in the past seven seasons.

Last season, HoCo and Pope met in the Final at Coolray Field and the Black, Silver, and White swept the Greyhounds, winning 8-3 and 7-4 en route to capturing their fourth state title. These two also met in 2018 in the Elite Eight where Pope won Game One 5-1, HoCo winning Game Two 4-2, and Pope winning Game Three 8-2 to take the series and they also met in 2017 in the Sweet Sixteen and Pope swept the Bears by winning 10-0 and 11-2.

These two have met in the second round, third round, fifth round, and this upcoming Saturday, the fourth round. So far in the playoffs, the Bears are 6-0 with a First Round sweep of North Atlanta, winning 10-0 in five and 3-2, a Sweet Sixteen sweep of Evans on the road, winning 12-1 in five and 10-3, and an Elite Eight sweep of Lassiter, winning 3-1 and 8-1 and HoCo is currently on a 10-game winning streak.

The Black, Silver, and White have gotten on a tear of hitting home runs and here is where their jacks have come from in the postseason, Kendall Jackson hit a solo jack in Game One against North Atlanta, Eli Stephens hit a solo jack in Game Two against North Atlanta, Troy Carpenter hit his first career jack in Game One against Evans which was a solo, and Vick Gann hit a three run jack in Game Two against Lassiter.
