Bears sweep Northside on Thursday; Veterans match-up postponed

The Houston Co Bears swept county rival Northside on Thursday by taking game 1 15-0 in three innings & taking game 2 8-2 in five innings (game 2 shortened by rain). In game one; HoCo blew the doors open in the bottom half of the first by scoring 13 of it’s 15 total runs. After adding no runs in the bottom second; the Bears added two more runs in the bottom third to win game 1 15-0.

Game two started out scoreless through the first 2 1/2 innings until HoCo scored the first two runs by way of a sac hit in the bottom half of the third. The Bears doubled their lead in the bottom half of the fourth to lead 4-0 & Drew Burress hit a 3-run home run on a fly ball to center to push the lead to 7-0 & another run would come in to extend the lead to 8-0 HoCo after four.

Northside found two runs in the top fifth but after that part of the inning closed; the rain moved in & game two was shortened thus giving the Bears the 8-2 victory in game two.

Eli Stephens had 3 rbis in game one followed by Andrew Dunford, Kai Decker, & Ethan Buffone with 2. Drew Burress led the way in game two with 3 rbis off of the home run followed by Andrew Dunford with 2 & Elijah Smith with 1. Kenyon Walker & Justin Canceran each had an rbi for the Eagles in game two.

HoCo currently sits at 12-1 overall; 3-0 in region play while Northside currently sits at 2-10 overall; 0-3 in region play.

Veterans was scheduled to play Thomas Co Central on the road yesterday but rain postponed the event and a make-up date has yet to be determined.
