Demonettes down Midtown to return to the Final Four; Lady Bulldogs obliterated by Hebron Christian

Tonight’s Elite Eight battle between the Demonettes & Lady Knights was kind of an oddball game in regards to the three pointers & free throw attempts… more on that later. Warner Robins punched their ticket to the Final Four for the second consecutive season by taking down Midtown 73-63 at the Demon Den earlier this evening. The game started out with the Demonettes scoring the first four pts before the Lady Knights scored the next five.

The first quarter saw a combined 40 pts as Warner Robins led 22-18 heading into the second. The Demonettes pushed their lead to 34-23 down the stretch in the second but Midtown got hot by ending the half on a 9-2 run after making three 3-pt field goals to cut the gap down to four…. 36-32 at the break.

The game stayed close throughout much of the third quarter until Warner Robins pushed their lead from four to ten by the end of the quarter to lead 52-42 heading into the fourth. The Demonettes extended their lead to 60-46 which is the largest lead they had all night but the Lady Knights were not giving up for anything as they got on a 10-0 run in a short time span to cut the gap down to 60-56 with under four minutes left in the game.

Midtown could not get the gap any closer as Warner Robins pulled away one more time to seal the victory 73-63 & punch their ticket to the State Semifinals. The Demonettes won the game despite getting outshot 11-1 from beyond the arc & that is not a typo… the Lady Knights lived from beyond the arc by making an incredible 11 3-pt field goals & five of those came from freshman Devin Bockman herself.

Another oddity that happened was in the fourth quarter where Midtown’s Briaiah Lewis attempted 16 free throw shots in that quarter ALONE & making ten of them while Tori Davis of Warner Robins went 8-for-8 from the free throw line in the final frame & there were a combined total of 26 free throw attempts in quarter four.

Warner Robins was led in scoring by Tori Davis with 21 pts followed by Jada Morgan with 14 pts while Briaiah Lewis led the Lady Knights in scoring with 20 pts (14 of those from the free throw line) followed by Devin Bockman with 17 pts & Sinclair Richman with 12 pts.

The Demonettes improved to 27-3 overall & will take on Calhoun in the Final Four on Friday March 3rd at 2:00pm @ West Georgia University in Carrollton while Midtown finished their season at 22-9 overall.

The same could not be said for the Mary Persons Lady Bulldogs who got absolutely obliterated by undefeated Hebron Christian 98-25 to finish their season at 25-5 overall. The Lady Lions improved to 30-0 overall & will take on Wesleyan at Fort Valley State University on Friday March 3rd @ 2:00pm.
