Demonettes fall short to Kell in the State Championship Game

The Warner Robins Demonettes came into yesterday evening with eyes set on winning their first state championship since 1965 & the opponent standing in the way was the Kell Lady Longhorns. Unfortunately for Warner Robins; they ran into a better team & the Lady Longhorns defeated the Demonettes 57-36 in the GHSA AAAAA State Title Game at the Macon Coliseum.

The game started off slow as both teams turned the ball over multiple times in the opening five minutes. Kell struck first to lead 2-0 & then Warner Robins responded by taking a 3-2 lead early in the first… the only lead the Demonettes would have the entire evening as the Lady Longhorns caught fire & led 17-5 after one.

Kell & Warner Robins played a tightly contested second quarter that saw the Demonettes outscore Kell 8-7 to trail 24-13 at the half. The Lady Longhorns got on a roll out of the break & extended their lead back to sixteen for the second time in the game & kept Warner Robins at bay for the remainder of the game.

Krystal Henderson who was held to six points in the first half for Kell went crazy in the second half by scoring 23 pts & ending the evening with 29 of the team’s 57 total points & ultimately; win the state champonship over the Demonettes 57-36 while Warner Robins finished runner-up in AAAAA & ended the season at 28-4 overall (.875 win percentage). Kell ended the season at 26-5 overall after capturing their first state title in school history.

Tori Davis & Jada Morgan both led the Demonettes in scoring with 8 pts a piece. The problem Warner Robins had was that they could not break the 2-3 zone defense implemented by Kell who succeeded with their long arms that they used to their advantage.

The seniors who are graduating that are on the 2022-2023 Warner Robins Demonettes team include:
