Demons cap regular season with sweep of Cedar Shoals; Other results

The Warner Robins Demonettes closed out their regular season with a 50-40 win over the Cedar Shoals Lady Jaguars at the Demons Den earlier this afternoon. Warner Robins came out kind of slow in the 1st quarter but found some offense late to lead the Lady Jags 14-7 after one & led at the half by 12, 32-20. Trouble found the Demonettes in the third as they struggled to make a basket down the stretch & the Lady Jags won the third quarter 11-6 & cut the gap down to 38-31 WR after three.

Cedar Shoals had a couple of chances to cut the gap under 7 but was unable to make the shots necessary to do so & Warner Robins was able to find the offense to pull away & put the game to bed late & the final score was 50-40 Demonettes. Warner Robins finished the regular season at 22-3 while the Lady Jaguars fell to 10-14.

Warner Robins will host the region 2-AAAAA tournament next week after it was decided that the tiebreaker between the Demonettes & Lady Wolverines was points differential in the two games that WR & Union Grove played in. The Demonettes defeated Union Grove 61-48 on December 1st & the Lady Wolverines defeated the Demonettes 60-50 on January 17th. The points differential; Demonettes +3.

Jada Morgan led the Demonettes in scoring with 20 pts followed by Navean Mack with 13 pts. Ashley Lester led the Lady Jaguars in scoring with 20 pts followed by Kam Brown with 9 pts.

The boys game would not be near as close as the Demons dominated the Jaguars enroute to a 71-35 victory Saturday Evening. Warner Robins led 13-5 after one & 31-16 at the half. The Demons continued to pour it on Cedar Shoals by outscoring them 19-6 in the third to lead 50-22 after three. Warner Robins got hot from downtown mostly from Pete Braddy who made three from beyond the arc in the fourth to close out the game on a 21-13 run in the fourth to win 71-35.

The Demons finished the regular season at 17-6 overall while the Jaguars fell to 3-21. Pete Braddy who made four total three pointers led the Demons in scoring with 14 pts while Dewan Foote led the Jaguars in scoring with 13 pts. 11 of those came in the fourth quarter.

It was also senior night at the Demons Den as the seniors from the cheer team & both basketball teams were recognized in between the girls & boys games.

Elsewhere, the Bears Den was active tonight as HoCo hosted region foe Thomas Co Central on Senior Night that resulted in a split. The Lady Bears lost to the Lady Yellow Jackets 55-28 while the Bears defeated the Yellow Jackets 72-63. The HoCo girls fell to 9-13 overall; 2-7 in region play while the Lady Yellow Jackets improved to 13-6 overall; 4-5 in region play.

The HoCo boys improved to 13-10 overall; 5-4 in region play while the Yellow Jackets fell to 8-14 overall; 0-9 in region play.

Northside hosted county & region rival Veterans earlier today that resulted in a Warhawks sweep. The Lady Warhawks defeated the Lady Eagles 61-24 while the Warhawks defeated the Eagles 78-69. The Lady Warhawks improved to 21-4 overall & finished 9-1 in region play while the Lady Eagles fell to 2-19 overall; 0-9 in region play after dropping their 17th consecutive game. The Warhawks improved to 15-9 overall & finished region play at 6-4 while the Eagles fell to 5-16 overall; 1-8 in region play after dropping their 9th consecutive game.
