‘Excitement’ the name of the game as Perry begins spring

What does going 8-5 mean to a football program? What does starting out 0-3, then going on to win region (4-AAAA), beat your first and second round opponents easily (Westover, 30-14, and LaGrange 34-4) and only fall to the team that won it all (Marist) mean to a football program?

“It has really, really, brought a lot of excitement,” said Head Coach Kevin Smith. “That last game, that we were operating at about 35 percent against Marist and we come down that hill and this place is electric.

“And our guys are looking around and it wasn’t the sense of ‘We’re just glad to be here’. It’s: ‘Let’s go. Let’s get out here and win this thing.’ We just didn’t go out and play well enough to win (that day).

“And that has carried over to our spring practice …”
