Northside boys race to first at 22nd Warner Robins XC Invitational

Northside’s boys earned top honors at the 22nd Annual Warner Robins Cross Country Invitational held Tuesday on the course bordering Huntington Middle School.

The Eagles finished with 70 points. Stratford was second with 81, followed by Mount de Sales with 91 and Houston County with 111. Lee County rounded out the top five in the field of 16 schools. It had 113.

Perry was sixth with 154, Veterans ninth with 243 and the host Demons 11th with 269.

The Bears’ Benji Malcom was first individually. He crossed in 17:41.92. Northside’s Trent Rasmussen was second with a time of 18:03.31.

Panther Dylan Coleman was just outside the top five with a sixth-place finish in 18:38.99.

A trio of Eagles, Matthew Milam, Haruto Tanaka and Mac Raley, helped secure the win for Northside. They finished 15th-17th, respectively. Milam crossed in 19:43.13, Tanaka in 19:47.27 and Raley in 19:48.73.

Christian Narsing was Warner Robins’ top finisher. He broke the finishing line in 20:03.45. Hot on his heels was Jacob Mitchell for Veterans, who came in at 20:04.01.

Mary Persons was first for the girls – out of nine teams. It finished with 30 points. Stratford Academy was second with 69, Houston County third with 93 and Lee County fourth with 107. First Presbyterian Day rounded out the top five with 117.

Perry was sixth with 127 and Veterans eighth with 238.

Lillie Mealor for FPD was first individually. She crossed in 20:50.67. She was followed by Lady Bear Mackenzie Davis, who crossed in 21:42.02.

Norma Jones, 22:11.64, was fourth for the Lady Eagles.
