Mason Ford scored Northside’s first three touchdowns to help lead the club to a 35-6 win at Whitewater.
The first quarter was scoreless, but Ford took care of that with a seven-yard run. That was with 8:21 left, and with Adam Lemond added the first of his five points after, made it 7-0.
Ford scored again about four minutes later. This time it was from the one. (Of course he had a lot of help to get there. The Eagles as a team compiled 341 total yards. Ford was seven-of-14 passing for 63 yards of that. He also had 122 rushing yards on 14 carries. Whitewater had 236 total yards, 143 of its passing.)
At any rate, Ford crossed the plain again in the third with a 23-yard run. That came with 7:40 remaining.
Brennen Schmitt blocked a Whitewater punt following. That was recovered by Micah Thurmon to make it 28-0.
The Wildcats, a team Northside beat 41-3 last year, finally scored with 8:09 left in the game. That came via a 16-yard pass from Austin Williams to Braylon Kennedy.
Zikhyree Hill scored from 11 yards out in answer to that. He finished with 87 yards on seven carries.
