Panthers shutout Baldwin twice in return to action; Demons top Golden Eagles

The Perry Panthers returned to action yesterday after not playing the previous 12 days against the Baldwin Braves in a doubleheader that resulted in matching 11-0 Panthers victories…. both in five innings. Perry started off a little rusty in game one as they failed to plate a run in the first two innings. The Panthers plated three runs in the bottom half of the third to lead 3-0 in game one.

Perry blew the doors open in game one in the bottom half of the fourth by plating eight runs to lead 11-0 going into the fifth. The Panthers finished the game off & took game one 11-0 over the Braves. Perry SP Ben McDow showed no rust as he dazzled from the mound by striking out 12, allowing no runs on one hit, & walking one in five innings of work.

Kam Vandersee led the way in rbis in game one with four followed by Colter Ginn with three, Nathan O’Rear with two, & Carson Shaw with one. The Panthers had 13 hits & committed no errors while Baldwin had one hit & committed two errors. Braves SP Noah Suddeth gave up 11 runs (7 earned) on 13 hits, walked two, & struck out six in four innings of work.

Game two featured the same result…. an 11-0 Panther victory in five innings as Perry scored two in the first, five in the second, four in the third, & none in the fourth. Colter Ginn of the Panthers hit a two run home run in the bottom half of the second in game two to give Perry a 7-0 lead at the time.

Perry SP Cooper Edwards also dazzled from the mound as he struck out 12 & allowing no runs on one hit, & walking two in five innings of work. Baldwin SP Presly Anderson gave up 11 runs (one earned) on five hits, walking four & striking out two in four innings of work.

Kam Vandersee once again led the Panthers in rbis with five in game two followed by Colter Ginn with two, & Bradley Parrish with one. Perry currently sits at 17-3 overall; 8-0 in region play while the Braves currently sit at 9-9 overall; 4-5 in region play. These two teams will face each other in Milledgeville later this evening at 5pm.

The Panthers had five hits & committed no errors while the Braves had one hit & committed three errors.

Elsewhere; the Warner Robins Demons traveled to Henry County to play the Eagle’s Landing Golden Eagles & came away with the 10-7 region win on the road to pick up their first region victory of 2023. The Golden Eagles led 6-5 going into the top of the seventh & after K. Jernagon tied the game at 6 with an rbi single…. the Demons took an 8-6 lead on an error that plated two runs.

Chase Plank doubled the Warner Robins lead with a two rbi double to extend the lead to 10-6 going into the bottom half of the seventh where Eagle’s Landing plated one more run before the Demons closed out the game & took the 10-7 victory.

Warner Robins pitchers allowed seven runs (five earned) on eight hits, walking four, & striking out nine. Chase Plank & Isiah Canion led the Demons in rbis with two a piece followed by C. Lewis & K. Jernagon with one each. Eagle’s Landing pitchers allowed 10 runs (8 earned) on eight hits, walked 11, & struck out seven. Both teams had eight hits while WR committed one error & EL committed four errors.

The Demons improved to 3-16 overall; 1-11 in region play while the Golden Eagles fell to 3-12 overall; 0-9 in region play. These two will meet again tomorrow for a doubleheader at the Demon Diamond starting at 4:30pm.
