Perry blasts Westside-Macon; Demons shutout twice against Locust Grove

The Perry Panthers demolished the Westside-Macon Seminoles earlier this evening at the Panther Pit en route to a 22-0 shutout victory over the Seminoles in three innings. Perry hit two sac hits that brought in the first two runs of the game in the bottom half of the first to lead Westside 2-0.

The Seminoles were unable to get on the scoreboard in the top half of the second & then the Panthers came up to bat in the bottom half of the second where the game would essentially be put away. Lane Smith led off with a fly out to center but Perry scored two runs on a Seminole error to double their lead to 4-0. Their fifth run came in via a sac groundout by Kameron Vandersee which also put two outs on the board & a 5-0 lead.

The Panthers kept the bottom half of the second going by absolutely kicking the doors into the street by adding an incredible 17 more runs to their tally all with two outs to lead 22-0. Westside committed four errors in the bottom half of the second that resulted in 8 Perry runs.

The Panthers would strikeout to end their 20 run bottom half of the second. Perry kept the Seminoles off the scoreboard in the top half of the third to win the game 22-0 after three innings. Lane Smith had four rbis for the Panthers this evening. Perry had 13 hits & committed one error while Westside had no runs, no hits, & committed five errors.

Perry improved to 12-3 overall; 3-0 in region play while Westside fell to 3-5-1 overall; 0-5 in region play. The Panthers swept the Seminoles by outscoring them 58-1 in three games this season. Perry will travel to Griffin to play Spalding next Monday at 5:30pm while Westside will host Howard a week from tomorrow at 4pm.

Over at the Demon Den, the results were the total opposite. Warner Robins played Locust Grove in a doubleheader due to the threat of rain on Friday & the Wildcats shutout the Demons in both games 14-0 in game 1 & 10-0 in game 2 to improve to 13-2 overall; 6-0 in region play while Warner Robins fell to 2-11 overall; 0-6 in region play.

Locust Grove will take on Ola on the road next Monday at 5:55pm while the Demons will host Dutchtown next Monday at 6pm.
