Perry girls, boys drop region regular-season finale against Spalding

Perry’s girls and boys came up short in their last Region 2-AAAA regular-season contest Friday at home.

The Lady Panthers fell 53-28. The boys dropped their contest 68-59. (Both have a non-region game at Houston County today.)

The loss put the girls at 4-6 in the division, 8-12. That’s at least good in the sense they are the No. 4 seed. Upson-Lee is third at 5-5, 15-9, West Laurens second, 8-2, 17-8 and the aforementioned Lady Jaguars first, 10-0, 19-4.

The loss for the boys put them at 3-7, 5-15. That’s sixth. The region record has them tied with Mary Persons, but the two split matchups in head-to-head contests, but the Bulldogs having a better overall record. They are 11-14. Perry is 5-15.

Upson-Lee is first in the region with a 10-1, 17-7 mark. West Laurens is second, 6-4, 12-13. Howard is third, 5-5, 14-9 and Spalding fourth, 4-6, 10-14.
