Several finish baseball’s first week unbeaten

The first week of high school baseball is in the books.

It was good news for Warner Robins. It was not so good for Northside.

The Demons swept their cross-town rivals. First the Demons beat the Eagles 13-3. That was on Tuesday. Friday, they won 9-2. Northside also lost to Perry, 8-2, on Saturday and counting a scrimmage loss to Stratford, 5-4, on Feb. 9, are still looking for their first win.

The Panthers also took a scrimmage win over Tift County Feb. 11, 2-1, beat Jones County 7-2 Wednesday and shut out Veterans – its only game to date – 5-0 on Saturday.

Then there’s Houston County. Playing at Lakepoint, the Bears beat Walton 17-3 on Friday. On Saturday, they beat North Cobb Christian 5-2 and East Paulding 6-2.

They will host Veterans Tuesday before playing a doubleheader Friday against Hartselle – an Alabama school – and Locust Grove. The first pitch is set for 5:30 p.m.) Saturday, they will take on Hartselle again (11 a.m.)

Northside is at Baldwin on Tuesday (6 p.m.) and hosts the Braves Friday (6 p.m.) They are also slated to be at Veterans Wednesday (6 p.m.)

Perry will host Crisp County Tuesday (6 p.m.) and visit it Friday (6 p.m.).

Warner Robins is slated to host Peach County Monday (Feb. 22) and travel to Jones County Friday (6 p.m.)
