Veterans added two more match wins to its total Tuesday at home. The Lady Warhawks hosted Calvary Christian and First Presbyterian Day. The beat both 2-0, edging out the first 25-21, 25-22 and the second 25-21, 25-13.
Alasha Heard had 16 kills to help lead the squad. Savannah Hodges also had five aces, Abby Cross nine digs, Staci Jones two blocks and Sydney Hudson 16 assists.
Veterans also had a “big day”, said Head Coach Marlene Rogers, at Houston County’s playdate held Saturday. The Lady Warhawks finished it undefeated. It started with a “tough” win, Rogers said, against Mount de Sales. It went down to the wire in game three, she said, with Veterans winning the first 25-21. The Lady Cavaliers won the second 25-18 but the Lady Warhawks edged them out in the finale, 18-16.
The girls went on to be Valdosta in two, 25-15, 25-17, and Perry in two, 25-21, 25-11.
Houston County was a bit of a different story, Rogers said, as it took three games and “another exciting finish.” The Lady Warhawks won the first 25-18. They then fell in the second, 25-19, but won the third, 15-13.
Heard again had a big day. She finished with 33 kills and seven aces. Shaylen Brown also had an “amazing day,” Rogers said, with 18 kills and 10 blocks.
Katie Reiff remained “consistent” with 13 kills, 10 digs and four aces. Abby Cross also pulled up 25 digs and Sydney Hudson put up 34 assists.
