Veterans’ girls and boys swept their way to wins at the 26th Annual Houston County Championships held Oct. 17 on the course bordering Huntington Middle School.
The Lady Warhawks finished with 35 points. Houston County was second with 59, followed by Perry with 67, Warner Robins with 101 and Northside with 105.
Veterans’ Mackenzie Walls finished first – a sight that has become all-too familiar over the past few years. She finished in 18:44.34.
Ande Chaloult of Houston County was second. Her time was 20:57.22. Perry’s Georgia Maddox was third with a time of 22:01. She was followed by Marika Claiborne of Warner Robins, who crossed in 22:08.84.
Penelope Jackson of Northside rounded out the top five with a time of 22:09.15.
Six through 10 were as follows: Ansley Miranda (Veterans), 22:20.38; Victoria Teague (Houston County), 22:25.50; Alivia Blanton (Veterans), 22:43.50; Kaitlyn Shepherd (Veterans), 22:47.28 and Emma Ellis (Perry), 22:49.88.
For the boys, Veterans finished with an extremely impressive 16. Perry was second with 51. Northside was third with 76, followed by Warner Robins with 107. Houston County was fifth with 120.
Five of the top six individual finishes went to the Warhawks. (And exclamation on that 16.)
Trent Jackson was first. He finished in 17:24.91. Grant Morgan was next with a time of 17:41.47. He was followed by Logan James, 18:05.25 and Kaleb Horvath, 18:05.66.
River Livingston for Perry slipped in at number five. His time was 18:25.97.
Brandon Bill, again for Veterans, was sixth with a time of 18:29.31.
Two more Panthers followed, Brian Rogerson, 18:29.78, and Chrystian Trauth, 18:32.15.
In ninth – of the 48 runners total – was Carlos Gutierrez for Northside (18:33.18) and in 10th was Jaden Jackson from Houston County (18:34.18).
