The Veterans Warhawks won the battle over ACE Charter in 9 innings last night 5-4 at the Warhawks Diamond. Early on in the game, the Gryphons had the bases loaded with no outs but were unable to cash in a run as Veterans got out of an early jam. The Warhawks plated the game’s first two runs in the bottom of the second to lead 2-0 over ACE & later added another run in the bottom of the 4th to increase the lead to 3-0.
The lead would not last as ACE Charter has a big top half of the fifth by plating three runs to tie the game going into the bottom half of the fifth. The Gryphons plated the go-ahead run in the top half of the sixth to lead 4-3 but the Warhawks kept fighting & were able to tie the game up in the bottom half of the seventh & the game went into extras.
Veterans was able to get runners on base in the bottom half of the ninth as Brooks Master came to bat. With the game tied at 4; Masters walked-off with an infield single after the throw to home plate was high & out of reach of the Gryphons’ catcher to give the Warhawks the 5-4 victory. Veterans improved to 1-1 overall while ACE Charter fell to 1-1 overall & these two will meet again in Macon on Wednesday February 22nd.
Last week, Perry & Warner Robins opened their seasons against each other on February 7th at the Panther Diamond & would play again on February 10th at the Demon Diamond that resulted in the Panthers winning both games 10-0. Earlier this week; Perry picked up two more victories with a 6-0 home shutout victory over Jones Co on Monday & a 6-4 home win over county rival Veterans on Tuesday. The Panthers are currently 4-0 overall & will play at Jones Co tomorrow at 5:30pm.
Northside opened their 2023 season with a big 10-3 win over county rival Warner Robins this past Tuesday to start the season at 1-0 & will take on Westside (Macon) later today at 4:30pm. The Demons are currently 0-3 overall & will face off against Northside one more time this season tomorrow evening at 6pm.
