Northside Eagles soar in opener, 42-6

Northside opened the 2026 season with a convincing 42-6 victory over Eagles Landing, overcoming an early deficit and a first-half weather delay to pull away.

Eagle’s Landing struck first, scoring on its opening possession, but a missed extra point left the score at 6-0. Northside answered immediately with a three-play, 71-yard touchdown drive that took just 63 seconds, giving the Eagles a 7-6 lead.

Later in the first quarter, Bennie Solomon scored on a seven-yard touchdown run to extend the Northside advantage to 14-6.

The game was interrupted by a weather delay with 9:37 remaining in the second quarter, sending both teams to the locker room for approximately 30 minutes. When play resumed, Northside quickly added another score on a four-play, 21-yard drive, taking a 21-6 lead into halftime.

Northside received the second-half kickoff and wasted little time putting the game away. With 10:48 remaining in the third quarter, Keirion Tate connected with Ja’noah Hicks on a 44-yard touchdown pass, making it 28-6.

Another Northside touchdown, this one on a 14-yard run, pushed the lead to 35-6.

The Eagles completed the scoring when Zechariah Montgomery recovered a fumble in the Eagles Landing end zone for a touchdown. The extra point produced the final margin.

FINAL: Northside 42, Eagle’s Landing 6

Northside starts the season 1-0 after scoring 42 unanswered points following Eagle’s Landing’s opening touchdown.  The Eagles will travel to Mays next week.
