Late Rally Lifts Eagle’s Landing Over Northside, 20–14

In a hard-fought defensive battle that came alive in the second half, Eagle’s Landing stunned Northside with a late touchdown and two-point conversion to secure a 20–14 victory in the season opener at the Mac.

After a scoreless first half, Eagle’s Landing struck first on a 57-yard interception return for a touchdown. The extra point missed, giving the Golden Eagles a 6–0 lead. Northside answered quickly as Jacaleb Green recovered a fumble at the Eagle’s Landing 43-yard line, setting up an 8-yard scoring pass from quarterback Wyatt Henson to Braylon Price. Kicker Diaz added the extra point, giving Northside a 7–6 advantage.

Moments later, a short punt by Eagle’s Landing gave Northside favorable field position, and Henson again found Price — this time on a 23-yard strike — to extend the lead to 14–6. But the Golden Eagles clawed back when quarterback Fletcher connected on an 11-yard touchdown pass with just over four minutes left in the third quarter. Another missed kick left Northside ahead 14–12.

The decisive moment came with 4:30 left in the game. Fletcher hit Jerrion Dixon for a touchdown, then found Morey on the two-point conversion to put Eagle’s Landing ahead for good, 20–14.

The loss spoiled the debut of Northside head coach Boone, whose team showed flashes but ultimately couldn’t overcome late-game mistakes. Coach Boone and his staff will look to regroup as the Eagles prepare to host Baldwin County next week.
