5 from Northside High School sign football scholarships

Five from Northside High School signed football scholarships Wednesday during National Signing Day. They were Da’marcus Allen, Cameran Brown, Centavious Lowe, Michah Thurman and Ajairrius Whitehead.

Allen signed with LaGrange College. Brown, Lowe and Thurman all signed with the University of West Georgia and Whitehead inked his Letter of Intent with Phenix City.

“This is a day where dreams come true,” said Northside football Head Coach Chad Alligood, prior to calling upon each player’s position coach(es) to talk about them in specific. “This is a day these young men have been dreaming about since they were small. Their families have been dreaming about.

“And the one thing about dreams is a lot of times our dreams don’t come true. Because they’re just dreams. We’re not willing to work for it. We’re not willing to sacrifice for it. We’re not willing to do what it takes to make the dream come true. We’re just dreaming.

“These are examples of dreams coming true. Because they were willing to work for it (to sacrifice for it). The opportunity to go to the next level. The opportunity to get their education paid for. The opportunity to pave a path for their life that is going to provide for them and provide freedom for going to school.”

“But these guys are special to our program and I’m just so super-excited for them.”
