HoCo sweeps Northeast; Warner Robins sweeps Locust Grove; Other Results

The HoCo Basketball teams hosted the Northeast Raiders from Macon earlier tonight and the result was a Bears’ sweep with the girls winning 63-29 and the boys winning 70-51.

In the girls’ game…. the Black, Silver, and White scored the first pts of the game followed by the Lady Raiders making a pair of baskets and the score was 11-4 Lady Bears after one and led 27-9 at the half and would continue to increase their lead to 49-18 after three meaning a shortened six minute fourth quarter.

HoCo would win 63-29 to pick up their first win of the 23-24 campaign. Kinley Snider led HoCo in scoring with 15 pts followed by Jayla Holden with 11 pts. Ashieya Holmes led Northeast in scoring with 13 pts which all came in the second half. The Lady Bears improve to 1-2 on the season and will travel to Gray to play Jones Co on Friday while Northeast opens their season at 0-1 and will travel to Forsyth to play Mary Persons on Friday.

The boys’ game followed suit and this game would see the lead go back and forth throughout the first three quarters. The score was tied at 14 after one and tied at 29 at the half and until late in third quarter… neither team had a lead that was more than three pts until the host took a 43-39 lead at the end of the third quarter.

The Bears pushed their lead to 55-39 in the fourth by way of a 16-0 run that started in the third and then Northeast hit a trio of 3-pointers to cut the lead down to seven and then HoCo pulled back away to win 70-51… ending the game on a 31-12 run from late in the third quarter onward.

Josh Jackson led the Bears in scoring with 23 pts followed by Malachi Jackson with 21 pts and Devan Robinson with 11 pts. Jatavion Zellner led the Raiders in scoring with 26 pts.

HoCo snaps its 3 game losing skid to improve to 2-3 on the season and their three losses were by a combined eight pts while Northeast opens at 0-1. HoCo will play at Jones Co on Friday while Northeast will play at Mary Persons on Friday.

Elsewhere, the Warner Robins squads opened region play tonight at home against Locust Grove and the result was a double obliteration by both Demons teams as the girls won 61-19 to improve to 3-0 overall; 1-0 in region play while the boys hung a whopping 110 pts in their 110-66 win over the Wildcats to improve to 2-1 overall; 1-0 in region play.

The Demons will host Union Grove on Thursday in a critical early region contest while Locust Grove will travel to Ola on Friday. The Jones Co girls lost to Union Grove 49-39 and fell to 4-2 overall; 0-1 in region play while the boys won 58-54 to improve to 1-0 in region play.

The Mary Persons Lady Bulldogs dominated Howard in their 53-19 home win to improve to 3-1 on the season while the boys lost 51-42 to fall to 0-3 on the season and will take on Northeast at home on Friday.

The Northside squads opened their 23-24 campaign down in Cochran as they took on Bleckley Co and the boys fell 75-49 and the girls lost 52-34.
