The Perry Panthers traveled to De Kalb Co to play the Stephenson Jaguars in the Elite Eight and the result was a 34-20 Panthers victory… sending the Maroon, Gold, and White to their first ever Final Four appearance in the program’s 70 year history. The Jaguars scored the first 7 pts before the visitors scored the next 27 pts in the second and third quarters.
Perry would be outscored 14-7 the rest of the way but they finished off the host to win 34-20 to improve to 11-2 on the season…. the program’s first 11 win season ever. Stephenson finishes 2023 at 10-3 overall. The Panthers will travel to Fayette Co next Friday to take on the Starr’s Mill Panthers in the Semifinals after SM stunned Central (Carroll) 35-29 earlier tonight.
The Mary Persons Bulldogs saw their season come to an end by falling at home to the Cedar Grove Saints 28-14. The game was close in the first half but the visitors got away late to win. The Black, Gold, and White end 2023 at 11-2 overall. Cedar Grove will host Calvary Day in the Semifinals next Friday.
The Warner Robins Demons hosted the Creekside Seminoles tonight and fell 35-14. The Cardinal, Black, and White led 7-6 after one but trailed 20-7 at the half and ended up losing 35-14 as the Demons will not see the State Final for the first time since 2016. Warner Robins ends 2023 at 9-4 overall and Creekside will host Jefferson next Friday in the Final Four.
