Lady Panthers dominate Dooly Co; Panthers fend off Bobcats fourth quarter rally to win

The Perry Panthers basketball teams hosted Central GA foe Dooly Co in a non-region tilt earlier tonight and the result was a Panthers sweep with the girls obliterating the Lady Bobcats and the Panthers fending off a Bobcats’ rally in the fourth.

The girls’ game was all Perry as they led 24-2 after one, 34-8 at halftime, 56-13 after three, and when it was all said and done, the host won 68-19 to sweep the season series against Dooly Co.

The Lady Panthers were led in scoring by Anna Dean with 20 pts followed by Kennedi Miller with 14 pts and Dooly Co was led in scoring by Lulee Taylor with 9 pts (all of which came via three National Exterminating 3-pt FGs). Perry improves to 6-18 overall while the Lady Bobcats fall to 1-18 overall after losing their 13th consecutive game.

The boys’ game would be closer throughout the night as both teams would trade the lead and the game was tied at 11 a piece after the first quarter and the Panthers would outscore the visitors 18-11 in quarter two to lead 29-22 at halftime. The Maroon, Gold, and White outscored the Bobcats 23-10 in quarter three to lead 52-32 heading into the final frame.

Dooly Co opened quarter four on a 12-3 run to cut the deficit down to 11 but the Panthers opened the gap back up to 18 pts to almost put the game away but the visitors cut the gap down to 6 thanks to Jalen Hall getting hot down the stretch but Perry was able to keep Dooly Co at bay to win 69-61 to sweep the season series against the Bobcats.

The Panthers were led in scoring by Ahmad Gordon with 16 pts followed by Colby Dixon with 13 pts, and Castor Engelbach with 11 pts while Dooly Co was led in scoring by Jalen Hall with 31 pts followed by De’Ante Burden with 20 pts. Perry improves to 7-18 overall while the Bobcats fall to 7-12 overall.

The Panthers will travel to Griffin to play Spalding Co in region play on Thursday Night while Dooly Co will host Telfair Co in a region tilt on Friday Night.
