The Veterans Lady Warhawks hosted the Lakeside (Atlanta) Lady Vikings in the first round of the AAAAAA State Playoffs earlier tonight and the host opened the playoffs with a rout of the Lady Vikings by winning 63-41.
The Lady Warhawks opened the game on an 8-0 run before the visitors scored the next seven pts to make the score 8-7 Veterans in the first and the Red, White, and Blue would end quarter one on a 7-0 run to lead 15-7 going into the second quarter where the host outscored Lakeside 16-9 to lead 31-16 at halftime.
Veterans would outscore the Lady Vikings 18-5 in quarter three to push their lead to 49-23 going into the final eight minutes of play where the Lady Warhawks scored the quarter’s first 11 pts to lead 60-23 before their starters were pulled out of the game and that is when Lakeside (Atlanta) started to cook and they outscored Veterans 18-3 to end the game but that was in garbage time and the Lady Warhawks won 63-41.
Gabby Minus led Veterans in scoring with 25 pts followed by Nariah Nelson and Des Seaton with 11 pts each while Gabriella Benjamin led the Lady Vikings in scoring with 14 pts. The Lady Warhawks improve to 22-6 overall and will travel to the Georgia coast to play the Brunswick Lady Pirates in the Sweet Sixteen on Friday but the time is to be determined for the time being. Lakeside (Atlanta) wraps up it’s 23-24 season at 17-8 overall.
