The Veterans Lady Warhawks hosted the Wilcox Co Lady Patriots earlier this evening which resulted in a Veterans 9-8 win in eight innings. The Red, White, and Blue got the scoring started by plating a run in the last of the first. The Lady Patriots plated two runs in the top of the third to take a 2-1 lead.
Veterans had an explosive bottom half of the fourth by plating four runs to take a 5-2 lead heading into the top of the fifth where Wilcox Co answered right back with three runs to tie the game at 5 a piece. The Lady Warhawks retook the lead in the last of the fifth by plating two runs to lead 7-5 and once again…. the Lady Patriots would answer in the top half of the sixth with two runs of their own to tie the game at 7.
The game would go into extra innings and in the first of the eighth…. Wilcox Co plated a run to lead 8-7. In the bottom half of the eighth…. Rayven Hodridge hit an rbi single that ran in Katelyn Haines to the tie the game at 8 and later… Hodridge would steal home to walk-off the Lady Patriots 9-8 in eight innings.
Veterans improves to 10-5 on the season and will travel to Tifton on Thursday to play the Tift Co Lady Blue Devils in a region doubleheader while Wilcox Co falls to 7-6 on the season and will return home to play Marion Co tomorrow.
