The Northside Eagles hosted Central Ga foe Peach Co earlier tonight and the result was a Blue, White, and Orange sweep with the Lady Eagles winning 53-39 and the Eagles winning 56-50. The girls’ game opened with the Lady Trojans making baskets and taking a 13-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. The host would begin to close down the gap and would trail 20-19 at the half.
Northside would outscore Peach Co 19-8 in the third quarter to lead 38-28 going into the final quarter of play. The Lady Eagles would close out the Lady Trojans by winning 53-39 to split the season series at one a piece. Taylor Johnson led Northside in scoring with 20 points while Uzi Rumph led Peach Co in scoring with 19 points.
The Lady Eagles improve to 9-11 overall while the Lady Trojans fall to 5-13 overall.
The boys’ game would be contested for most of the game as the Blue, White, and Orange jumped out to an 11-1 lead before Peach Co ended quarter one on a 10-2 run to trail 13-11. The second quarter would be tightly contested in it’s entirety as the host would slightly extend it’s lead to 26-21 at halftime.
The Eagles would lead 31-28 in the third quarter and they would end the frame on a 10-0 run highlighted by Braylon Price’s half-court three-point buzzer beating shot to go up 41-29 heading into quarter four. Peach Co would close the gap down but could not cut it to one possession as Northside would hold off the Trojans to win 56-50.
Northside was led in scoring by Jordan Gaines with 17 points followed by Braylon Price with 15 points, and Mekei Spencer with 12 points. Peach Co was led in scoring by A. Willock with 17 points followed by Caleb Welch, and Rowan Warlick with 10 points a piece. The Eagles improve to 10-10 overall and will return to region play on Friday Night against the Coffee Trojans while the Trojans fall to 5-13 overall after losing their fourth consecutive game.
