Perry battles hard in loss to Cadets

Benedictine held off a late rally from Perry to secure a 41-17 win on Friday night, as a series of key turnovers and big plays turned the tide.

After taking a 27-3 lead early in the second half, Benedictine appeared to be in control. Perry responded with a 10-play, 59-yard drive, capped by a three-yard touchdown run from Kam Oliver to trim the deficit to 27-10.

After missing a long field goal attempt, Perry looked to close the gap further after a promising turnover set the Panthers up inside the opponent’s 10 yard line, but Bubba Frazier picked off a tipped pass and raced 95 yards for a touchdown, extending the lead to 34-10.

Perry’s hopes of a comeback were further dashed when Frazier intercepted a pass again in the fourth quarter, sealing the win for Benedictine.

Perry managed a brief spark early in the fourth with a one-yard touchdown pass from Reid Ginn to Jackson Thompson, cutting the lead to 34-17, but Benedictine’s Joshua Washington answered with a nine-yard touchdown run to make it 41-17.

Warner Robins will be at the Panther Pit next Friday to battle Perry in the last regular season game for both teams.
