Northside takes care of Rutland

The Northside basketball teams hosted the Rutland Hurricanes last night and the result was an Eagles’ sweep with the girls winning 79-20 and the boys winning 79-47. The girls’ game opened with the Lady Hurricanes scoring the game’s first 5 points before the host would get on the board and lead 13-8 after one.

Northside would dominate the second quarter by outscoring Rutland 23-2 to take a 36-10 lead going into halftime and would go on to win 79-20 to sweep the season series.. the Lady Eagles beat the Lady Hurricanes by 17 last Saturday. Taylor Johnson led Northside in scoring with 26 pts followed by Jazmyn Brown with 18 pts.

Rutland was led in scoring by Nyjializ Vera with 7 pts. The boys’ game would feature the Blue, White, and Orange jumping out to an 8-0 lead and never looking back as they would hold the lead the entirety of the contest. Northside led 20-8 after one and 39-22 at halftime. The host would continue to build it’s lead in the second half and would ultimately go on to win 79-47 to also sweep the season series against the Hurricanes.

Elijah Patmon led Northside in scoring with 18 pts followed by Jaydin Howell with 15 pts and Caden Lowe with 13 pts while Rutland was led in scoring by Jace Harris with 19 pts. The Northside teams will prepare to take on county rival Perry Saturday Afternoon.
