Lady Eagles win in the final seconds; Eagles handle Northside-Columbus

The Northside Eagles hosted Northside-Columbus in an all Northside battle earlier this afternoon and the result was a Blue, White, and Orange sweep to wrap-up 2025. The girls’ game would be a low-scoring slugfest for it’s entirety as the Lady Patriots jumped out to an early 9-1 lead and led the host 13-6 after one quarter of play.

The Lady Eagles would turn up the heat in quarter two as they would chip away at the deficit and would take a 23-21 lead going into the halftime break. The second half would end in a 20-20 tie as Northside-Warner Robins would lead 31-29 after three and would make the game-winning two-point basket with 22 seconds remaining in the contest to give the Blue, White, and Orange a 43-41 victory.

Taylor Johnson led the Lady Eagles in scoring with 16 points while Quianna Hunter led Northside-Columbus in scoring with 16 points. The boys’ game would be close for about five minutes before the Eagles would take over as the visitors from Columbus would lead 9-6 before Northside-Warner Robins would go on a 14-0 run that included making four straight threes to take a 24-12 lead going into quarter two.

The host would jump out to a 20 point lead in the second but the Patriots would cut the gap down some and trail 45-30 at halftime. The Blue, White, and Orange would keep Northside-Columbus at bay in the second half as they led 70-50 after three and would lead by as much as 28 in quarter four and would go on to win 91-69.

Vontrez Quainton led the Eagles in scoring with 18 points while the Patriots were led in scoring by Zabe Thompson with 15 points. The Lady Eagles improve to 9-3 on the season while the Eagles improve to 9-3 on the season and they will open 2026 up at home on Friday Afternoon when they host Thomas Co Central to begin region play.
