Demonettes down Statesboro behind strong fourth quarter; Lady Warhawks clobber Glynn Academy

The Demonettes opened their Playoff run against what was quite the formidable opponent earlier tonight. That opponent was the #8 team in AAAAA the Statesboro Lady Blue Devils who were a 4 seed out of region 1 & this 1st Round Playoff game did not disappoint. The Lady Blue Devils scored the game’s first four points before Warner Robins got on the scoreboard & it was a tight game throughout until about a quarter of the way through the fourth quarter.

The Demonettes led 13-12 after one & then Statesboro tipped the scales slightly to take a 23-22 lead in to the half after the last two minutes of the first half went without any points by either side. The Lady Blue Devils scored the opening basket of the third to lead 25-22 & then Warner Robins would take the lead back as these two went toe-to-toe & the Demonettes took a 36-32 lead into the fourth quarter.

Warner Robins made three 3-pt field goals in the fourth while also playing stellar defense that kept Statesboro at bay the remainder of the game & the Demonettes won the game 50-42 to advance to the Sweet Sixteen.

Tasia Agee led Warner Robins in scoring with 14 pts followed by Jada Morgan with 12 pts while Alyssa Staten led the Lady Blue Devils in scoring with 18 pts followed by Reya Johnson & Ashari Washington with 11 pts each.

The Demonettes improved to 25-3 overall & will host the Chamblee-Harris Co winner either Friday or Saturday Night while Statesboro finished their season at 19-10 overall.

Elsewhere; the Veterans Lady Warhawks opened their playoff run by hosting the Glynn Academy Lady Terrors at the Warhawks’ Nest that resulted in a Veterans blowout victory 62-27. The Lady Warhawks led 17-9 after one & 30-13 at the half. Veterans continued the onslaught by outscoring the Lady Terrors 18-10 in the third to lead 48-23 & then finished the game off by outscoring Glynn Academy 14-4 in the fourth quarter to win 62-27.

Nariah Nelson led the Lady Warhawks in scoring with 18 pts followed by Des’teyn Seaton with 10 pts while Martin Davis led the Lady Terrors in scoring with 9 pts followed by Kyra Page with 6 pts. Veterans improved to 24-4 overall & will host the Lovejoy Lady Wildcats Friday Evening at 6:00pm in the Sweet Sixteen while Glynn Academy finished their season at 8-20 overall
