HoCo’s Carson Small looks to help the team make a deep playoff push

Houston County baseball’s starting lefty Carson Small is looking to help the team make a deep playoff push and possibly win the state championship in class AAAAAA. This season has not been easy for the senior pitcher as he has missed most of the regular season due to injury which occurred during week one and he made his return to the bump last Friday against Locust Grove where he pitched two innings and allowed no runs.

Small is a big piece of HoCo’s pitching staff and he showed what he is capable of doing last season as he pitched behind Ryker Chavis and Andrew Dunford and he had two memorable games on the mound in 2023. First game was his complete game shutout against Calvary Christian out of Clearwater, FL in the famous NHSI tournament that the Bears won 3-0.

His most notable game pitching was in the Elite Eight against Blessed Trinity in the winner-take-all game three where in a scoreless game in the last of the second, he had a bases loaded situation with no outs and was able to get a fly out, a strikeout, and another fly out to strand the bases and keep the Titans off the board and it ultimately the Black, Silver, and White would win that game 6-1 with all six runs coming in the top half of inning four.
