Demons and Eagles renew rivalry tomorrow night for the 66th time

It is that time again for the Northside Eagles and Warner Robins Demons to face-off against each other in the War-Town Classic tomorrow night at The MAC. This will be the 66th time that the Blue, Orange, and White and the Cardinal, Black, and White take each other on in Football and the series is led by the Demons with a 40-25 advantage over Northside including winners of the last six match-ups.

The Eagles come into this game at 2-0 on the young season with a 33-21 win over Jones Co at Mercer and a 28-17 home win over Peach Co. Warner Robins is coming off a BYE Week after opening their season at Lee Co and lost 26-19 to currently sit at 0-1 on the year. Last season’s match-up was a relatively low-scoring contest with the Cardinal, White, and Black prevailing in overtime 17-10.

That contest featured both teams making mistakes but the Blue, White, and Orange had the ball deep in Demons territory but fumbled the ball and gave Warner Robins the ball back to send the game into overtime. The first match-up between Northside and Warner Robins took place on November 13th, 1964 with the Demons winning 25-6 and the Eagles’ first victory occurred on September 23rd, 1966 when they beat the Cardinal, White, and Black 18-13.

The Blue, White, and Orange’s last victory over the Demons was August 19th, 2016 where they absolutely destroyed Warner Robins 55-3 which is also the largest margin of victory in series history to date. On October 30th, 2009…. the Demons were down 20-0 in the fourth quarter and rallied to down Northside 21-20 by game’s end.

On September 21st, 2018…. the Eagles looked like they had a walk-off touchdown but the officials ruled it incomplete and Warner Robins won 39-34…. the 73 combined points is the most in series history. The longest win streak in this rivalry is 7 by the Cardinal, White, and Black twice and are looking for their seventh consecutive victory tomorrow night.

This year’s match-up looks like it could potentially go all the way down to the wire once again but only time will tell on what happens tomorrow night.

Here is the results of the previous six match-ups:
08/18/17 Warner Robins 28 Northside 17
09/21/18 Warner Robins 39 Northside 34
09/27/19 Warner Robins 39 Northside 0
09/25/20 Warner Robins 47 Northside 0
09/10/21 Warner Robins 49 Northside 7
09/02/22 Warner Robins 17 Northside 10 OT

Both teams have new head coaches this year with Shane Sams being the Demons’ head coach and Ben Bailey being the Eagles’ head coach. Northside’s longest win streak is four which happened twice.
