Lady Greyhounds rally past Demonettes; Cam Perkins reaches milestone in Demons’ victory

The Warner Robins basketball teams hosted Central Georgia and region foe Jones Co earlier tonight and the result was a split with the Lady Greyhounds winning late and the Demons keeping the Greyhounds at bay for the double-digit victory.

The girls’ game would be close throughout the entirety of the game as the visitors led 15-14 after one and the next two quarters would be a tie as both teams scored 23 pts in those two periods as Jones Co led 38-37 going into the fourth. The fourth quarter saw Warner Robins get on a run and lead by seven pts before the Lady Greyhounds chipped away at the gap down the stretch.

Jones Co would tie the game at 53 with 20.7 seconds remaining and Warner Robins’ Tori Davis would miss a potential go-ahead two with just under 10 seconds remaining and Amaris Ridgeway of the Lady Greyhounds would run the floor and make the game-winning two with 1.8 seconds remaining to hand the visitors the 55-53 victory over the Demonettes.

Carlie Skinner led Jones Co in scoring with 16 pts with 12 of those coming from four National Exterminating threes followed by Amaris Ridgeway with 15 pts and Mya Anderson with 11 pts while Warner Robins was led in scoring by Trintee Thomas with 20 pts followed by Verkesia Fuller with 14 pts and Tori Davis with 10 pts.

The Lady Greyhounds improve to 17-5 overall; 7-3 in region play after splitting the regular season series with the Demonettes while Warner Robins falls to 14-5 overall; 7-3 in region play.

The boys’ game would stay relatively close but not as close as the girls game. The first quarter started out with the host turning the ball over several times but almost all of them resulted in no pts for the Greyhounds and the Demons would lead 17-12 after one and 34-29 at halftime.

The host would get up to a 12 pt lead in the third before the visitors cut the gap down to four until Warner Robins pushed the lead to six at the end of the third quarter, leading 57-51. The Demons were able to keep Jones Co at bay in the fourth and they pulled away to win 73-62 to split the regular season series with the Greyhounds.

Warner Robins was led in scoring by Jay Johnson with 21 pts followed by Cam Perkins with 17 pts and at some point during the contest, Perkins scored his 1,000th career point in Georgia High School Basketball. He was followed in scoring by Isaiah Gibson with 12 pts and Cam Flowers with 10 pts.

Jones Co was led in scoring by Jaden Stanley with 20 pts. The Demons improve to 13-6 overall; 6-4 in region play while the Greyhounds fall to 16-6 overall; 6-4 in region play. Warner Robins will host longtime county rival Northside in a non-region tilt tomorrow afternoon while Jones Co will host Ola next Tuesday Night.
