Mistakes in the red zone costs HoCo in the fourth quarter against Lee Co

The HoCo Bears opened region play at home against the Lee Co Trojans and the result was a 44-35 Lee Co victory. Both teams got into a track meet throughout much of the first half with the halftime score being tied at 28. The Bears took the lead with a little under 2:30 left to play in the third when AJ Hill found Ricky Johnson in the back of the endzone and the PAT made it 35-28 HoCo.

The Black, Silver, and White forced a three-and-out on Lee Co and got the ball back and they got into the red zone, on a fourth and short situation, HoCo fell a foot short of making the line to gain and then two plays later; the Trojans hit pay dirt with a 2 play 82 yd drive and the PAT tied the game at 35.

The Bears got into the red zone again… but this time Hill was stripped sacked and Lee Co recovered the fumble. Their ensuing offensive drive would result in a punt and then the Bears’ offense went back to work but the left side of the o-line got overpowered and AJ Hill got sacked multiple times resulting in a punt.

Lee Co retook the lead with an Ousmane Kromah rush TD and the PAT made it 42-35 Trojans with 1:10 left in the game. Hill would be sacked twice more resulting in a safety and Lee Co took the ball of the free kick and ran the rest of the clock out.

The Trojans improve to 5-1 overall; 1-0 in region play and will host Veterans next Friday while HoCo falls to 5-1 overall; 0-1 in region play and will travel to play county rival Northside next Friday.

The Black, Silver, and White’s defense failed to contain Lee Co junior RB Ousmane Kromah as he rushed for a little over 300 yds in the game.
