The Jones Co Greyhounds picked up a dominate region home win over Eagle’s Landing tonight by a final score of 48-15. The Greyhounds improve to 4-2 overall; 2-0 in region play and will travel to play @ Ola next Friday in a marquee region matchup while the Golden Eagles fall to 2-4 overall; 1-1 in region play and will host Locust Grove next Friday.
The Mary Persons Bulldogs had their homecoming game @ Pitts Stadium taking on the talented Prince Avenue Christian Wolverines and the final result was a surprise MP victory 45-28 to finish non-region play at 5-1 and will host longtime rival Jackson next Friday in the Backyard Brawl and its both team’s region openers.
Prince Ave falls to 6-1 on the season and will open region play @ Oglethorpe Co in three weeks as they have the next two Fridays off.
The struggling Northside Eagles traveled to Brodie Field in Tifton to take on the Tift Co Blue Devils in both team’s region opening contest and the result was a close Eagles victory 35-34 in overtime. The Blue Devils went for two in overtime down 35-34 after scoring a TD and failed the two point try that gave Northside the region win.
Northside improves to 3-3 overall; 1-0 in region play and will host county rival HoCo next Friday while Tift Co falls to 1-5 overall; 0-1 in region play and will travel to play Thomas Co Central next Friday.
The Perry Panthers traveled back to Bibb Co to take on the Westside (Macon) Seminoles and that resulted in a dominate Panthers victory by a final score of 55-14. Perry improves to 5-1 overall, 2-0 in region play and will return home for the first time in four weeks to take on the Griffin Bears next Friday.
The Seminoles fall to 4-1 overall; 0-1 in region play and will play at West Laurens next Friday.
The Warner Robins Demons hosted the Ola Mustangs and this game went down to the wire with the host squeaking out a 28-27 victory by converting a late 2-pt try to hand the Mustangs their first loss of the season. The Demons improve to 3-3 overall; 2-0 in region play and will play @ Union Grove next Friday.
Ola falls to 4-1 overall; 0-1 in region play and will host Jones Co next Friday in a marquee region matchup.
The Veterans Warhawks hosted the Thomas Co Central Yellow Jackets at Herb St. John Stadium and got demolished in a 52-0 shutout loss to TCC. The visitors improve to 6-0 overall; 1-0 in region play and will host Tift Co next Friday while the Warhawks fall to 3-3 overall; 0-1 in region play and will travel to play the Lee Co Trojans in Leesburg next Friday.
