Tift Co sweeps Northside; Demonettes finish region play at 11-1; Other results

The Northside Lady Eagles got crushed in their region matchup against the Tift Co Lady Blue Devils & ultimately lost 55-16 at the Eagle’s Nest Friday Night. Tift Co led 38-3 at the half. Northside fell to 2-18 overall; 0-8 in region play after dropping their 16th consecutive game. Tift Co improved to 17-4 overall; 7-1 in region play.

The boys game would be a tighter contest with Northside leading for much of the first quarter but Tift Co was able to get the lead late in the first & ended the quarter up 13-11. Northside trailed by 8 at the half & was able to close the gap down to three & then the Blue Devils got on a 10-0 run to keep themselves ahead for the remainder of the game.

There was some confusion with :47 left in the game after Tift Co made their 2nd free throw that should have brought the score to 56-47 Blue Devils but was ultimately not rewarded & Tift was left with 55. The final score ended up being 55-47 in favor of the visitors although it really was 56-47 Tift Co. The Blue Devils improved to 16-5 overall; 5-2 in region play while the Eagles fell to 5-15 overall; 1-7 in region play after dropping their 8th consecutive game.

Elsewhere; the Perry teams traveled to North Macon to take on the Howard Huskies that resulted in a split. The Lady Panthers lost 35-34 & fell to 8-15 overall; 3-5 in region play while the Lady Huskies improved to 10-14 overall; 4-8 in region play. The Panthers won 59-38 to improve to 12-11 overall; 7-4 in region play while the Huskies fell to 8-16 overall; 1-11 in region play.

Veterans traveled to Thomasville in Southwest Georgia to take on the Thomas Co Central Yellow Jackets that resulted in a Warhawks sweep. The Lady Warhawks won 56-46 to improve to 20-4 overall; 8-1 in region play while the Lady Yellow Jackets fell to 12-6 overall; 3-5 in region play.

The Veterans boys defeated TCC 65-57 to improve to 14-9 overall; 5-4 in region play while the Yellow Jackets fell to 8-13 overall; 0-8 in region play. Warner Robins traveled to Henry County to play the Ola Mustangs Friday Night. The Demonettes defeated the Lady Mustangs 65-51 to improve to 21-3 overall & finished regular season region play at 11-1. Ola fell to 10-14 overall; 2-10 in region play.

Warner Robins is tied with Union Grove at 11-1 in region play as both teams defeated each other earlier this season. It is unknown where the region 2-AAAAA tournament will be held at this time, check back here tomorrow for an update on where the tournament will be played.

The Warner Robins boys defeated Ola 69-53 to improve to 16-6 overall & finish 7-5 in region play while the Mustangs fell to 2-22 overall & finished 1-11 in region play. The Warner Robins teams played their make-up region home game Thursday Night against Locust Grove that resulted in a Demons sweep. The Demonettes crushed the Lady Wildcats 63-25 while the Demons defeated the Wildcats 70-46.
