The Houston County Bears entered the 2025 season with real momentum after an Elite Eight run the year before, and expectations inside the program were just as high as those from the outside. That confidence showed immediately with a statement win on the road against Brookwood, a game that set the tone for a fast, physical, and focused team.
The Bears opened the season 5–0 before stepping into one of the toughest regions in the state—a challenge the coaching staff doesn’t shy away from, but embraces. They continued their dominance, starting region play undefeated and reaching an impressive 8–0 record. That run, however, hit a major test on the road at Thomas County Central, a place known for its intensity and difficulty.
One of the defining moments of the season came in a high-stakes matchup against Lee County, with playoff positioning on the line. The Bears rose to the occasion, executing in key moments to secure a critical win and earn a home playoff game. They carried that momentum into the postseason, winning in the first round before their journey ended at Rome in round two.
Despite not reaching the ultimate goal, the 2025 season stood out as one of the most meaningful in the coach’s career. The bond within the team, their work ethic, and their resilience made the group special beyond wins and losses.
The offseason quickly shifted into gear, with a strong emphasis on the weight room in January and February, laying the foundation for the next chapter. Spring practice has continued that momentum as the Bears prepare for another competitive season.
At the core of the program’s success are non-negotiables: discipline, effort, accountability, and consistency—values that have carried the coaching staff through every stop in their careers.
Looking ahead to 2026, the schedule brings a mix of new non-region opponents while maintaining the same demanding region slate. The goals remain clear: compete at a high level, grow as a team, and make another deep playoff run.
