Warner Robins sweeps Northside; HoCo, Perry split results

Warner Robins’ girls made it nine straight. The boys won their 12th in a row.

Perhaps even more rewarding was perhaps the fact the latest wins for each came over cross-town rival Northside. The Demonettes beat the Lady Eagles 71-53, Saturday at home. The boys won 72-50. (It also represented a season sweep. The girls won 56-36 back on Jan. 8. The Demons rolled 74-59.)

Warner Robins also swept Ware County Friday on the road. The girls took that one 60-37. The boys rose victorious, 56-44. The Demonettes improved to 17-5 overall, 5-0 in Region 1-AAAAA. The boys now stand at 14-5 overall, 5-0 in the division. Both also have two region games left, Veterans on the road Saturday and Coffee away on Feb. 1. The boys also have an away game Feb. 5 against Cedar Shoals.

For Northside, it was the second-straight loss for the girls – they are 2-7 over their last nine. They are 9-8 overall. The boys suffered their 12th-straight setback and fell to 2-13. Both have their last Region 1-AAAAAA matchup Friday at Lee County. (And a non-region game at Westside to close out the regular season.)

Elsewhere, Houston County split its matchup at home against Perry Saturday. The Lady Bears won 57-35. The Panthers won 60-50.

For Houston County’s girls, it was their sixth-straight win. They also end county play having beaten Perry, Northside and Veterans twice. They split with Warner Robins, beating the Demonettes 46-40 back on Nov. 18, 2021, but then getting edged out, 46-42, on Dec. 10. They improved to 15-2 overall, 4-0 in Region 1-AAAAAA.

The Lady Panthers fell to 5-11 overall, 4-3 in Region 4-AAAA.

Perry was led by four in their win. Daequan Wright had 13 points, Antonio Lawson, Amar Gordon and Caleb Wilson, 10 each. Fontane Curtis had 13 to lead Houston County. Malachi Johnson had 12.

Perry’s boys improved to 8-7 overall, 5-2 in Region 4-AAAA. The Bears fell to 5-12 overall, 2-2 in Region 1-AAAAAA.
