2023 Northside Football Preview: Eagles looking to limit mistakes to close out games and compete for a state title

The Northside Eagles are looking to finish out close games and potentially compete for a state title in 2023. Last season; the Eagles were inconsistent as they lost some games they had the chance to win such as Jones Co, Warner Robins, and HoCo. The Blue and Orange found a massive overtime victory at AAAAAAA North Cobb with a goal line stand.

Northside somehow someway pulled out a 26-23 victory at Lee Co that had a very bizarre ending that saw the Trojans try to run out the clock but fumbled the ball and the Eagles picked it up for the game winning scoop n score touchdown. Lee Co for 80% of the game had Northside in check but they laid off the gas and gave Northside life to make a rally.

That victory gave the Blue and Orange a chance to compete for the region 1-AAAAAA championship but fell short of that goal when they lost 24-14 at home to Thomas Co Central. Northside’s strong suit in ’22 was their stout defense as they led region 1-AAAAAA in points allowed in those region contests.

A notable starter returning to the Eagles will be #7 senior Ricardo Jones. Northside head coach Ben Bailey will make his head coaching debut for the Blue and Orange Sat August 19th against Jones Co at Mercer University at 4pm.

Northside’s marquee matchups look to be against; Jones Co, Warner Robins, North Cobb, HoCo, Lee Co, and Thomas Co Central.
