The Warner Robins Demons hosted the Wayne Co Yellowjackets in a region battle earlier tonight and the result was a double blowout with the girls winning 62-32 and the boys winning 65-35. The girls’ game started out with both teams struggling to make baskets and the score after the first quarter was 10-7 Wayne Co. The visitors led by six in quarter two before the Demonettes went on an 11-0 run to lead 18-13.
The Lady Jackets would respond with a 5-0 run to tie the game at 18 a piece before the host ended the first half on an 8-2 run to lead 26-20 at halftime. Warner Robins would dominate the second half and would outscore Wayne Co 18-6 in quarter three to lead 44-26 and would continue it’s stronghold in the fourth quarter en route to a 62-32 region home victory.
The Demonettes had three players who scored double-digit points tonight with Trinitee Thomas leading the way with 21 points followed by Kor’veanna Slaughter with 16 points and Chyann Phillips with 14 points. The host outscored Wayne Co 36-12 in the second half. The Demonettes improve to 15-0 overall; 2-0 in region play and is scheduled to host longtime county rival Northside on Saturday Afternoon.
The boys’ game would be all Warner Robins as they would lead 19-6 at the end of quarter one and would push their lead to 32-11 at halftime. The Cardinal, Black, and White would lead by as much as 27 in quarter three before going into a lull on offense which Wayne Co would capitalize on to cut the gap down to 16 which would be the closest they would get to the Demons in the entire second half. The host would lead 45-27 after three.
Warner Robins would find it’s offense to pull away and close out the Yellowjackets in the fourth quarter by going on a 20-8 run to win 65-35. Gabe Jacobs led the host in scoring with 15 points followed by Chandler Dyson with 13 points and DJ Strickland with 10 points. The Cardinal, Black, and White improve to 8-4 overall; 2-0 in region play and is scheduled to host Benedictine Friday Night at 6pm.
