Mary Persons pulls away late to defeat Trinity Christian

Mary Persons secured its first region win of the season with a 6–1 victory over Trinity Christian in a Thursday night matchup. The game remained close early, with Mary Persons holding a slim 2–1 lead through four innings.

The turning point came in the fifth inning, when Mary Persons capitalized on timely hitting to score two runs with two outs, extending the lead to 4–1. They continued to build momentum in the sixth inning, adding two more runs to make it 6–1 and put the game out of reach.

Mary Persons delivered a strong offensive performance, tallying 13 hits in the contest. On the defensive side, their pitching staff was dominant, holding Trinity Christian hitless, though Trinity Christian managed to push across a run earlier in the game.

With the win, Mary Persons improves to 1–4 in region play and 6–8 overall. The two teams will meet again in a rematch on Friday evening at 6 p.m. in Sharpsburg, where Trinity Christian will look to bounce back.
