Bears prep for the Playoffs behind high-powered offense

The HoCo Bears are getting prepped to begin their Playoff run this upcoming weekend and what they bring is a high-powered offense that is capable of putting up several points in a game. The Black, Silver, and White finished the regular season at 6-4 overall; 2-3 in region play and are the 4-seed out of region 2-AAAAA.

The Bears are averaging 41.6 ppg on offense despite getting shutout in one contest and are allowing 28.1 ppg on defense for a scoring margin of +13.5 ppg. Senior QB AJ Hill has thrown for 2,874 yards along with throwing 35 touchdown passes to 4 interceptions this season. Hill is three touchdown passes away from surpassing Jake Fromm for the school record in career touchdowns thrown as Fromm had 116 and AJ currently has 114.

The Black, Silver, and White will be on the road to play the Clarke Central Gladiators who are the region champs out of region 8-AAAAA. The Gladiators are 8-2 overall and went 6-0 in region play however, they played no ranked opponents in region play and the two they did play resulted in losses of more than 20 points. Their losses came against Jefferson and North Oconee.

The Bears and Gladiators have played each other twice with HoCo winning both by a score of 26-14 in 2000 and by a score of 20-14 in 2001. HoCo is looking to snap a three-game winless streak but must execute and limit mistakes if they want to come away with the road victory against Clarke Central. The winner of this matchup will play the winner of New Manchester vs Lakeside (Evans) in the Sweet Sixteen.
