Bears shutout Apalachee twice to reach the Sweet Sixteen

The HoCo Bears opened their 2025 Playoff run against the Apalachee Wildcats earlier today in a doubleheader and the result was a Black, Silver, and White double shutout.. winning Game One 6-0 and winning Game Two 11-0 in six innings to advance to the Sweet Sixteen. Game One was highlighted by Kendall Jackson’s two-run jack and Vick Gann’s two-run jack but the host stranded a good number of base runners in the contest.

Jackson and Gann led HoCo in rbis with two a piece followed by Isaiah Galason and Tyson Ganas with one a piece in Game One. SP Will Allen struggled to find the strike zone some but allowed no runs on seven hits, walking one, and striking out four in the process and threw 96 pitches.

Game Two saw the Bears be the designated visitors and they jumped on the Wildcats in the top of the first when Vick Gann hit his second two-run jack of the series to give the Black, Silver, and White a 2-0 lead and Ethan Kenney would hit an rbi single to drive in Isaiah Galason to make the score 3-0 HoCo.

Kendall Jackson would hit his second jack of the series in the top of the second to make the score 4-0 in favor of the Bears. The Black, Silver, and White would plate seven more runs over the next four innings via an Isaiah Galason two-rbi double, a Logan Elble rbi single, a Kendall Jackson rbi double, a Vick Gann rbi single, a Tyson Ganas rbi single, and a Noah Odom rbi sac-fly to give the designated visitors an 11-0 victory in six to advance to Round Two.

Vick Gann led the way in rbis with three followed by Kendall Jackson and Isaiah Galason with two a piece and Logan Elble, Ethan Kenney, Tyson Ganas, and Noah Odom with one a piece. SP Max Wilhide threw a gem as he pitched the complete six innings surrendering no runs on one hit, walking none, and striking out 10 of his 18 batters that he faced and pitched only 60 pitches and threw 47 strikes in the process.

HoCo improves to 27-5 on the season and will host the Brunswick Pirates.. a 3-seed out of region 1-AAAAA in the Sweet Sixteen next Tuesday with the ‘if’ game slated for Wednesday of next week while Apalachee finishes 2025 at 8-20 overall.
